All electric buses turn left onto 3rd Street off of Townsend. The only bus that continues
straight along Townsend is the 10, a diesel bus. The below photo shows that all electric
buses turn, this one happened to be a 30 Stockton.
Notice that the overhead electric wires both turn up 3rd and continue straight along Townsend.
Halfway down Townsend a safety cone appears hung in the air. At first it appeared
to be a prank pulled by kids much like tennis shoes tossed over wires.
Up close, however, it appeared more likely that this cone was put up my MUNI personnel. Notice that
a rope has suspended the cone between one wire and the next.
Also Notice, behind the cone, that some kind of jumper-wire appears to be electrically shorting the
two electric overhead wires together.
This strange arrangement begs two questions: 1) Is the cone present to prevent buses
from striking the cable? 2) Is the cable merely a visual signal, and was the cone added because
the cable alone failed to be noticed by drivers? Does anyone have any idea what this is all about?

Interesting, if you find out do let me know
FYI, sneakers on wires aren't supposed to be kids pulling pranks, I believe they are to signal where to buy drugs. I could be wrong, I remember reading that somewhere.
